This project focuses on environmental justice and ecological restoration in the Garden of Eden, a historic Freedmen’s community in Fort Worth, Texas. Surrounded by industrial sites and aging infrastructure, the neighborhood faces serious risks from water contamination and urban neglect. The proposal identifies nature-based remediation strategies, such as wetlands, bioswales, and phytoremediation, to filter pollutants and restore ecosystem health. In addition to environmental restoration, the design features new residential housing, walking trails, a heritage center, and safety enhancements to promote long-term community resilience and revitalization.
